Jollibee Foods Corporation donates P1M for Marikina Watershed reforestation
Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) recently donated P1-million for the the Marikina Watershed reforestation initiative spearheaded by the Philippine Disaster Recovery Foundation (PDRF).
The donation will cover the costs of acquiring seedlings, preparing the land, actual tree planting and maintenance for a period of three years. On top of that, Jollibee employees will also participate in planting trees in their designated areas.
Employee volunteers from the different brands of Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) climbed the historical Biak-na-Bato and mystical mountain of Banahaw in April to June 2009 to plant more than 3,000 trees. Through the Tree Nurturing Program spearheaded by Jollibee Foundation, eight (8) hectares of critical watersheds were reforested. Volunteers were very optimistic that their involvement will make a great contribution to reforestration efforts.
Eco-volunteerism brings out the best in fast-food crew
Last April, employee volunteers from nearby Jollibee stores traded their aprons for brooms during the Agos: Earth Day 2008 clean-up effort at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Complex. Although it was largely a symbolic activity, the volunteers had high hopes that their participation can start a chain of positive change.
